Through the quick action taken by Candaba Municipal Station, a vote buyer was arrested caught red handed handing out envelopes containing cash money to citizens of Brgy Mangga, Candaba, Pampanga.

In a report reaching the office of PSSUPT OSCAR D ALBAYALDE, Officer-in-Charge, Pampanga PPO, at about 11:00AM of May 9, 2013, an alleged vote-buying activity was reported by concerned citizens to COMPAC 1 of Candaba Municipal Station. Personnel from the said office led by PINSP ROLANDO C RIGAT quickly coordinated with the Brgy Officials of Brgy Mangga and proceeded to the reported place where the illegal activity was occurring.

The responding team apprehended the suspect identified as Apolinario Cruz Dela Cruz, 51 years old, married and a resident of Brgy Dulong Ilog, Candaba, Pampanga. Confiscated from his possession are two handbags containing forty four (44) white mailing envelopes each inserted with three (3) one hundred peso bills.

Arrested person is now detained in Candaba Municipal Station for proper disposition and further investigation. A case of Violation of Article XXII, Section 261 of BP 881 (Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines) is being prepared against the perpetrator.

The Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO) will continue to intensify PNP’s campaign (S.A.F.E. or Secure and Fair Elections 2013) against vote buying in the province of Pampanga during this election period.

This was the assurance given by PSSUPT OSCAR D ALBAYALDE, said that this campaign will be done by intensifying police security throughout the municipalities of Pampanga.

Massive amount of policemen were deployed to the field to render their election duties. PSSUPT ALBAYALDE instructed them to be on alert and be on a lookout for suspicious activities that may occur in their respective areas of responsibility.

PPO’s campaign against vote buying activities has been relentless and the drive against it would best be described as shared responsibility by the police force and citizens as well.

Furthermore, PSSUPT ALBAYALDE encourages the public to report such activities to the authorities as soon as possible in order to have a safe and fair election this coming May 13, 2013.
