Security Preparation during Maleldo and Summer Vacation

The Pampanga PPO under the leadership of PSSUPT MARLON V MADRID joins the millions of Filipino Roman Catholics in remembering the passion of Jesus Christ and expresses solidarity with the Christian population in this most religious event. The observance of the Lenten Season aims to inculcate and uplift the spiritual values of the PNP personnel that will bring about moral and spiritual transformation.

Now that the summer months are here, tourists and vacationers flock the provinces that have beaches, leisure parks and recreational areas in order to take pleasure and escape the summer heat. Many of these tourists flock the province of Pampanga during the season of Lent or “Mahal na Araw” and may in turn lead to the congestion of roads.

In response to this issue, a total of two hundred eleven (211) personnel from City of San Fernando Police Station, Pampanga Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) and Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) will serve as area security and traffic marshals during the “Oplan Maleldo”. Barangay Tanods, NGOs, and other friendly forces will also be deployed to beef-up the security coverage which will be implemented by this office. Specifically, these personnel will be deployed on Barangays San Pedro Cutud, San Juan and Sta Lucia which are the major routes during the re-enactment of the passion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday.

“As much as possible, avoid bringing valuables such as jewelries, gadgets and etc. to avoid unnecessary theft while observing Via Cruxis on Good Friday” said PSSUPT MADRID. “If it is deemed necessary to bring a vehicle during the event, make sure to keep it locked and secured”, he added.

In addition, the Pampanga PPO reactivates “Oplan Lakbay Alalay” to ensure the safe and secure travel of motorists and commuters in their various destinations. PSSUPT MADRID instructed all his Chiefs of Police to establish Motorist Assistance Centers (MACs) and Police Assistance Desks/Centers (PADs/PACs) which will be installed strategically near areas such as transport terminals, busy intersections and recreational areas.

A total of two hundred nine (209) PNP personnel together with other force multipliers (such as NGOs, Radio Groups, Brgy Tanods) will be deployed to the thirty one (31) MACs and twenty four (24) PADs/PACs established near transport terminals, highways, churches, tourist spots and other places of convergence that are vulnerable to criminal and terrorist threats. Whether it is a threat or not, the Pampanga PPO is not taking any chances, and thus prepared to provide security and safety to the public during the Lenten Season and throughout the Summer Vacation.

Further PSSUPT MADRID calls on the public to plan ahead and make sure that their houses are secured while they are away during the long weekends. Furthermore, exercise extra precaution against lawless elements by bearing in mind the practical tips that the police have been reminding the public throughout the years.

Complimentary with these efforts, the Pampanga Police will intensify the implementation of preemptive security measures to address possible criminal and hostile acts that may arise during the observance of the Holy Week and rest of the summer vacation.
