Pampanga PPO Celebrates the 20th National Crime Prevention Week

Pampanga PPO under the leadership of PSSUPT MARLON V MADRID, Officer-in-Charge, celebrated the weeklong observance of National Crime Prevention Week earlier today coinciding the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony.

Since 1994, the whole Philippines yearly observes the NATIONAL CRIME PREVENTION WEEK (NCPW) on the first seven days of September (September 1 to 7). On its 20th year, the celebration will convey the theme “Krimen ay Labanan, Karapatan ay Igalang Tungo sa Mapayapang Pamayanan.”

This celebration is under the support of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) through the help of an inter-agency and inter-disciplinary Technical Working Committee. The weeklong observance is aimed at generating community awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of crime prevention and fostering interest and participation of the general public, especially students, in the prevention of crime and maintaing peace and order and public safety.

Although all sectors of society are enjoined to take part in the celebration, the heightened attention and active participation of students has been emphasized because of young people’s vulnerability to fall as victims of crime and because of the increase in violent school-related incidents.

In line with the celebration, together with the Department of Education (DepEd) and NAPOLCOM, we have already hosted an Essay Writing Contest last August 22, 2014. This is to educate our youth and increase their awareness and avoid vices which can gravely affect their future.

Engr. Erwin Dizon, President of Saint Peter Calungsod Realty Corporation and owner of Saint Catherine Realty Corporation, served as the Guest of Honor during the kick-off ceremony of the NCPW at Pampanga Police Headquarters.

During his message, PSSUPT MADRID, in line with the NCPW celebration, encouraged all the police personnel of this office to establish good communication and excellent partnership with the community in order to effectively fight criminality and successfully achieve the Pampanga PPO’s goal of lasting serenity here in the province.
